Therapeutic Horsemanship
our journey
Horse Resource is a therapeutic horsemanship centre offering a range of bespoke services promoting physical and mental wellbeing ‘Helping Horses, Help People’. Based on a rural farm in the peaceful Devon countryside, Horse Resource offers a holistic approach to horse care, horsemanship and horse riding.
Our integrative model using the Human-Animal bond to benefit both horses and humans has a positive impact on those with mental health problems, behavioural issues, learning difficulties and improves self-awareness, confidence and social skills.
Sophie Anderson founded Horse Resource in London 2016 after recognising the need for alternative education and natural therapy services for foster children.
Today, the Horse Resource sanctuary is a well-established centre providing programmes for schools, charities and organisations including Inspire SW, North Devon Youth Offender Team, Pathfields School and Inspired by Keira. Disadvantaged youngsters and community groups have the opportunity to benefit from therapeutic horsemanship thanks to sponsors and funding.
Building a trusting relationship is key to the success of what we offer at Horse Resouce.
We endeavour to provide the highest quality of care for our team of rescue ponies and competition horses with engagement from each other and humans.

We would like to thank Sue Gilbert for her continued support of the important work we do at Horse Resource.

Therapeutic Horsemanship works both ways, with Horse-Resource making a point of tending to the needs of the horses as well as the humans. Safeguarding children and Health & Safety are paramount.
